Gary Barlow has admitted that Frankie Cocozza's bad behaviour on The X Factor had been "encouraged" and the publicity was enjoyed by the show, but he does not "feel good" about the singer's exit.
"We've all encouraged Frankie to be, not only good, but to be bad as well, and we've enjoyed it and we've written about it.
"The show's enjoyed the amount of publicity we've had from it but it's just gone too far out of control for us to be able to, as a show, have him still on here."
Amelia Lily, 2 Shoes, Jonjo Kerr and James Michael, the four acts eliminated by the judges in the first live show, now face the public vote, for the first time, to decide who will return in place of Cocozza.
The X Factor continues on Saturday, November 12 at 8.15pm on ITV1.
