Frankie Cocozza was axed from the Uk X Factor after claims he began boasting about taking cocaine, according to the UK's Daily Mail. News of Frankie's exit was confirmed by show bosses early on Tuesday (8th November 2011), but the reason was only attributed to the singer breaking a "golden rule".
Now, show insiders have revealed the wannabe rock star was accused of discussing his drug use, something prohibited while appearing on the X Factor. Despite a series of lacklustre performances, the singer appeared to be winning over the audience after surviving a double elimination in which he was the odds on favourite to leave. Cocozza released a statement this afternoon, apologising to his mentor Gary Barlow who had often defended him amidst heavy criticism, saying, "I'd like to apologise to Gary, my fellow contestants and everyone who has voted for me, but, as of today, I will no longer be in The X Factor. My life during the show has gone out of control and my behaviour off stage has over-stepped the rules of the competition". It appears the latest allegations gave X Factor bosses no choice but to axe the 18-year-old, who is already being investigated by TV regulator Ofcom for apparently swearing on-stage and glamorising alcohol.
Although his vocals were questionable, Itv had sold Frankie has a "cheeky chappy", who compensated with his charisma.
