Cowell fans boast on Twitter debut

Simon Cowell has boasted that he is more popular than his fellow US X Factor judges after joining the Twitterati.

The music mogul racked up more than 150,000 followers in just 10 hours and quickly started bragging to judges Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and LA Reid that he was winning in the popularity stakes.
Cowell, tweeting as @SimonCowell, announced his arrival by saying: "It's official, I know it's taken a while. It's really me! We're live in 10 minutes."

He later taunted: "I love being on Twitter. Thank you for allowing me to beat the other 3 in the popularity poll. Paula looked like she'd sucked on a lemon!"

The 52-year-old X Factor judge joined the social networking site just before last night's episode of the US talent show, posting comments on his acts.

He also quickly began sparring with former America's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan, known for his Twitter rows with Sir Alan Sugar.

Morgan tweeted: "Save your breath Simon, nobody's watching X Factor, my show's about to start."
Cowell hit back: "Look up the word deluded in your dictionary."
