The former American Idol judge reveals the new mum has been keen to play a role on the show when it debuts later this year (11) ever since Cowell first started looking for talent to front the show.
He says, "She wanted to be involved in the show from day one... and you can't say no to Mariah.
"We have to find a role for her. I'm a huge fan of hers - not just as an artist, but as a person, and I love her to death."
Carey had to drop out of plans to become a judge on the show because of her pregnancy. Cowell will be joined by Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and Antonio 'L.A' Reid on the programme, but he can't wait to add Carey to the mix.
He adds, "We just can't shut Paula and Nicole up. Add Mariah into the mix as well and you won't even have anyone singing."
