Justin Timberlake to sing and act in Coen brothers film Inside Lewis Davis

The Coen brothers have signed up Justin Timberlake for a new movie about folk music. (PA)

The former 'N Sync star has been selected to take on the role of a struggling folk musician in the forthcoming Inside Llewyn Davis.
He has been given a major role with Joel and Ethan Coen clearly wanting to make use of the 30-year-old's varied talents.

The singer turned actor has taken a series of major roles since starring in Alpha Dog back in 2006, featuring in recent rom-com Friends With Benefits alongside Mila Kunis and new futuristic thriller In Time.
This new movie is said to be loosely based on the life of American folk singer Dave van Ronk, who presided over the burgeoning folk music scene in Greenwich Village, New York, in the early 1960s along with the likes of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell.

Van Ronk played a key part in the Village scene, helping new acts make a name for themselves and offering advice.

The lead role as the fictional Llewyn Davis will be taken by Oscar Isaac, who recently featured in Madonna's W.E, while Carey Mulligan has signed up for a major role in the flick.

Kim Kardashian to divorce

Kim Kardashian will file for divorce from Kris Humphries today (31.10.11) after just 72 days of marriage.

 Kim Kardashian to divorce

Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce today (31.10.11) after just 72 days of marriage.

The 31-year-old reality TV star married basketball star Kris Humphries in a lavish televised ceremony in August but after rampant speculation their relationship was trouble, 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' producer Ryan Seacrest has confirmed a divorce is imminent.

He wrote on twitter: "Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins (sic)."

Kim - who attended a Halloween party in New York over the weekend but did not bring Kris along - has reportedly hired divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has previously represented Britney Spears, Maria Shriver, Angelina Jolie and Ryan Reynolds and will cite "irreconcilable differences" in her divorce papers.

Sources close to the pair told website TMZ that their arguments over where to live were responsible for the breakdown of the union, with Kris wanting to live in Minnesota while Kim didn't want to leave Los Angeles.

Although this has been a source of tension for some time, they decided to try to figure it out after the wedding because they were so caught up with being in love.

Kim has previously revealed her marriage to 26-year-old Kris wasn't ideal because of the publicity surrounding their union and said they were finding it hard to get some alone time.

She said: "It's not been ideal because you're newlyweds and you want privacy."

Kim and Kris tied the knot in a fairytale ceremony in front of 440 guests in Montecito, California with her sisters Khloe and Kourtney as matron and maid of honour, and her nephew, 23-month old Mason, as ring bearer.

Cheryl Cole 'Planning To Stay Single'

Cheryl Cole has allegedly told friends that she's "swearing off love" and wants to stay single for a while.
Despite the gorgeous Geordie seeming to confess her love for producer Alex Da Kid on Twitter over the weekend, Chezza's pals claim the Girls Aloud star has given up her fight for love and is focusing on her career.

Following rumours she had abandoned a reunion with ex-hubby Ashley Cole, Chezza's mate told The Mirror: "Too much time was spent worrying whether a certain romance was going to happen. It wasn’t worth it. She just wants to focus on putting out the best record yet.”

Last week, the 28-year old was rumoured to be dating R&B star Taio Cruz, with a source telling Heat magazine that the pair were "smitten" with each other.

As well as her love life hitting the headlines, Cheryl is also reportedly in line to replace Tulisa Contostavlos as a judge on The X Factor, after Simon Cowell is said to have urged Louis Walsh to sort out the panel in a bid to improve ratings.

Justin Bieber's voice 'blossoming' with age

Justin Bieber at the Teen Choice Awards 2011

Justin Bieber's voice is improving with age, according to Island Def Jam boss Steve Bartels.

The music group president said that the 17-year-old's new Christmas album Under the Mistletoe shows off how much his voice has changed over the past year.

"The album really shows his growth as a young man and his voice has just blossomed," Bartels told Billboard. "It will pleasantly surprise many people. It's not your typical holiday album."

"Vocally, his balls have dropped," added Bieber's manager Scooter Braun.

Braun revealed that a duet with Mariah Carey on her hit 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' posed a particular problem during recording, owing to her insistence that Bieber sing in her original key.

"That was the hardest song to do," Braun admitted. "A year ago that would have been no problem."

Bieber said: "Yes that was high, but I grinded it out and we got it down."

Bieber released the album's first single 'Mistletoe' earlier this month. The song reached number 11 on the US Hot 100 and 21 on the UK Single Chart.

Take That’s Gary Barlow may not return for X Factor 2012

Gary Barlow had previously revealed that he would love to return to judge on The X factor next year, if Simon Cowell would have him.
However, it appears that he may have had a change of heart.
The Take That star has revealed that the stress and strains of the live shows are starting to get to him and said that he would have to think very carefully before committing to another grueling series of the ITV show.
In an interview with The Daily Star, the dad of three admitted that he had no idea The X Factor would take up so much of his time and energy.

He said:
“These live shows have been more demanding than I thought they would be. I am enjoying it but it’s stressful. I’d like to get to the end of the season before deciding to come back.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’ve really enjoyed it and if I was asked back next year I would definitely consider it. But it has been ten times more work than I thought it was going to be.”

Gary told his contestants that he would dedicate himself fully to them this winter, and didn’t book in any other work relating to his own music career. He confessed that he’s glad he made that decision and added:
“I didn’t book anything in my diary for the rest of the year and thank God because I haven’t got the energy to do anything else.
“When I get to Monday morning I’mcompletely drained.”
“It follows you everywhere and all that anybody wants to talk about is X Factor. You are responsible for putting people on stage and saying to the public, ‘What do you think?’ and it’s not always good.
“I’ve had lots of sleepless nights and my stubble is going grey.”

Do you want Gary back for 2012, or are you holding out the hope that Simon Cowell will return to his rightful place at the head of the judging table?

NEWS : Writers Nikesh Shukla & Kieran Yates Explore The UK Riots In New Book Summer Of Unrest: Generation Vexed

One of our favourite journalists Kieran Yates has collaborated with Coconut Unlimited author Nikesh Shukla on a new e-book exploring the Summer of Unrest that lead to the UK riots.

For a few days at the start of August, England was gripped by the riots that erupted in its city centres. Although there were various motivations behind the trouble and a broad spectrum of ages and backgrounds involved, the front pages were emblazoned with images of hooded youths running amok and stories of the revenge of the feral underclass. In this final part of the Brain Shots: Summer of Unrest series, Nikesh Shukla and Kieran Yates interrogate whether young people are deliberately conforming to a stereotype foisted upon them, and point instead to the creativity and entrepreneurialism that are defining a supposedly ‘lost‘ generation. An antidote to the broadsheet commentariat, this street-level view of the defining moment of the Summer of Unrest finds much to inspire hope and confidence for our future.

Spielberg excited about Jurassic Park IV

STEVEN SPIELBERG has confirmed he is working on a fourth JURASSIC PARK movie and he's adamant the new film will be an improvement on the last installment.

The director's 1993 monster hit, starring Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum and based on the book by Michael Crichton, spawned two sequels. However, Spielberg stepped away from the camera and acted only as executive producer on the last film, 2001's Jurassic Park III, which saw Neill return to the dinosaur franchise.

The legendary moviemaker has now confirmed work has begun on a new installment, telling Empire magazine, "The screenplay is being written right now by Mark Protosevich. I'm hoping that will come out in the next couple of years. We have a good story. We have a better story for IV than we had for III."

LINDSAY Lohan will be naked for Playboy – well, the part demands it. For all the drugs and the drink, Lohan still looks good enough naked to be paid $1million.
She will be in Playboy as naked as the day she was born – although unless Heather Mills is now her agent, Lohan will not be having her bottom spanked.
Hollywood Life puts the tin lid on Lohan’s career, but reporting:

“The photo shoot went well,” Dina tells X17Online.com.
The experts are wondering what next for Lohan? Well, if she goes to jail, the chances of a live porn show are optioned for HBO

Jodie Marsh did a nude photoshoot and all we got were these almost naked photosJodie Marsh did a nude photoshoot and all we got were these almost naked photos

JODIE Marsh has got an incredible body that we’re slightly obsessed with at the moment.
So when we heard she has done some nude shots, we couldn’t help but venture over to her Twitter page to see what all the fuss was about (purely for our love of art, obviously).

Anyway, our mothers will be pleased to know we did not leave with what we came for and instead were treated to the wonder that is Jodie’s muscles, in two barely-there swimsuits.

The model was taking part in a shoot for a lads’ mag when she donned a cute pink bikini and then a more daring black mesh one-piece.

Kelly Clarkson - Kelly Clarkson Entered Idol For Money

 Kelly Clarkson picture
Kelly Clarkson admits she only decided to audition for 'American Idol' because she was desperate for cash at the time.

Kelly Clarkson entered 'American Idol' to pay her electricity bill.

The musician - who won the first series of the TV talent show in 2002 - did not consider herself worth of being a pop star and thought she would have a career as a back-up singer.

She said: "My goal was just to be a back-up singer. I never intended to be in front.

"But then my apartment in Los Angeles burned down and I had to move home, I had no money and I had to sleep in my car for three days. I just auditioned for this thing that said they'd pay you, and it happened to be 'American Idol'. I didn't go into it thinking this would happen, I went into it thinking it might pay my electricity bill."

She continues to be shocked by her level of fame and does not know how she did so well during the series and in her subsequent career.

She said: "Literally my career is happenstance. I work very hard, but I always wonder how in the world I got here."

Emily Watson - Emily Watson's Emotional Roles

 Emily Watson picture
Emily Watson believes she is "known" for her emotional roles.

The 'Oranges and Sunshine' actress - who will soon be seen in heavy-hitting movies 'War Horse' and 'Anna Karenina' - thinks she is like a baker, in that people know her for doing one thing and only offer her those parts.

She said: "Why am I drawn to doing emotional extremes? I think it's really because, once you have a reputation for doing something, people come to you, just like when people go to the bread shop for bread.

"That's what I'm known for, and people want me for it. They want me to do it. It's how I earn my living."

She admits she was shocked when she read the part she had been offered in 'Oranges and Sunshine' - about the plight of British children who were sent to Australia up until the late 1960s.

She added: "Well, I read the script, and I thought, 'My God!' I was so shocked when I read it because, while I consider myself a fairly educated British citizen, I had no idea of any of this."

Kelly Brook: Underwear is important

Kelly Brook

Kelly Brook thinks it's "all about the foundations" when dressing a curvy frame.

The British beauty is famed for her womanly figure, and regularly wows in chic pieces that show off her curves to perfection.

Kelly knows how to dress for her shape, and says the secret lies in supportive under garments.

"Good fitted underwear. It's all about the foundations girls!" she advised when asked how to best dress curves.

Kelly admits her style has evolved over time. The actress-and-model likes to show off her slim frame in glamorous dresses that work for any occasion.

"I buy a lot more classic pieces that will last and I've learnt what suits me - anything that nips me in at the waist works because I'm curvy," she explained.

"My style is feminine, sexy and classic with a nod to the 50s."

Kelly loves to shop. The stunning star has revealed her last fashion buy.

"An Isabel Marant fringe dress," she said. "I wore it to the Giles show at London Fashion Week."

Kelly looks to other beautiful women in the industry for style inspiration. She has revealed the best fashion advice she's ever heard.

"Sophia Loren once said 'A dress should be like a barbed wire fence. Serving its purpose without obstructing the view,'" she quipped.

Cheryl Cole 'shocked' by Nicola

 Cheryl Cole
Nicola Roberts thinks her solo album surprised her Girls Aloud bandmates, with Cheryl Cole expressing her shock at some of the tracks.

Cheryl Cole was "surprised" by Nicola Roberts' solo album.

The Girls Aloud star recently released her debut record 'Cinderella's Eyes' and bandmate Cheryl wasn't expecting to be so emotionally affected by the music.

Nicola said: "The other girls love it. I think they've been a little bit surprised by the music. Cheryl told me, 'I laughed, I cried, I was shocked, I was this, I was that, I was every emotion listening to the album.' That's what I wanted, for people to be able to relate to it."

Nicola admitted she was surprised by the public reaction as she didn't know what to expect.

She said: "It's been amazing, just unbelievable, especially after working so long on something so personal.

"I didn't build myself up for anything. I've always loved to write and I really wanted to get into the studio to learn and just get better at it. I suppose I wanted to become a little bit more legit in what I said I did for a living."

'Strictly Come Dancing' Lulu: 'Brendan Cole pairing was horrifying'

Strictly Come Dancing star Lulu has admitted to initially being "horrified" at the prospect of performing with Brendan Cole.

Recalling her stunned reaction to the pairing on Strictly's launch show, the 'Boom Bang-A-Bang' singer explained that she had been concerned by Cole's reputation as a "really tough" teacher.

"I'd heard that he was really tough and a really hard teacher," she told the Sunday Mirror. "I was scared of getting him. Couple that with the fact he's so much taller than me and he was the last person I wanted. [Launch night] wasn't acting, I was horrified."

However, Lulu clarified that she was now delighted to have Cole as a partner, going on to praise the 35-year-old for being patient when rehearsals go wrong.

"He's an absolute sweetheart really. He's adorable," she said. "There have been some very low points and I have cried on a couple of occasions.

"I spend a lot of the time sliding down the wall in despair. I feel very sorry for Brendan, but it does frustrate me when he says, 'Let's do it again, let's do it again'. That can get on my nerves."

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight (October 23) at 7.25pm on BBC One.

Drug addict Craig jailed again

 Jonny Craig
Dance Gavin Dance forced onto hiatus after laptop scam singer is arrested for five new offences relating to substance abuse
Dance Gavin Dance have been forced onto hiatus after drug addict singer Jonny Craig was jailed for new offences relating to his substance abuse.

The band stuck behind him after he scammed over $8000 from a number of his fans by pretending to sell them a laptop. He later admitted he’d sold the same non-existent machine to a number of people and spent the money on drugs.

Craig, who’d also been singing with Emarosa, went into rehab in February and his management and label vowed no fan would be left out of pocket.

He was arrested last week in California on two counts of illegal drug use, two counts of possession and one count of failing to appear in court. Bail was set at $15,000.

In the light of the development Dance Gavin Dance say: “We regret to inform everyone that due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been forced to cancel our upcoming tour. We apologise to everyone that bought tickets and was looking forward to coming out and seeing us and the rest of the bands.”

Guitarist Will Swan adds: “DGD is on hiatus until Jonny can get his life together. Tour is not the environment for that.”

Craig left rehab in March and told said: “My actions in taking advantage of fans was inexcusable. My state of mind was completely shot and my decision-making skills were heavily impaired through my drug use.

“I’m embarrassed by my actions and I want to make amends to everyone I hurt. I’m in the process of paying everyone back. Please forgive me.

“I’ve since been in detox and successfully completed the treatment. I’ve learned a lot from this ordeal and realised I have a second chance.”

WEXFORD FESTIVAL OPERA

THEATRE ROYAL

FOR its diamond jubilee celebrations Wexford Festival Opera's opening gambit unearths Ambroise Thomas's La Cour de Celimene -- lying in limbo since its 1855 Paris premiere.

The Wexford staging, also commemorating the composer's bicentenary, does as much as it can with the frivolous souffle.

The music is attractive but, like its story of a coquettish widow, it is rather slight.

However, there is much in the production's favour. Paul Edwards' sets and costumes run a riot of colour in evoking a decadent French society milieu.

Director Stephen Barlow uses his stage highly effectively and the Wexford cast respond with eclectic timing and teamwork.

Besides, the comic nature of the ridiculous piece is conveyed with tasteful aplomb.

Sopranos Claudia Boyle as the Countess Celimene and Nathalie Paulin as her disapproving baroness sister do full justice to Thomas's extravagant coloratura, vocal acrobatics and elaborate roulades.

As principal suitors, Luigi Boccia's ardent tenor and John Molloy's unyielding bass amusingly duel it out before achieving their respective romantic aspirations.

Carlos Izcaray conducts the opera with enthusiastic verve and the festival chorus pack plenty of punch.

Cheryl Cole lets her Hollywood home out to Paula Abdul.

The Girls Aloud singer - who was axed from the US 'X Factor' after just four audition rounds - bought a property when music mogul Simon Cowell first signed her up for a judging role on the show, but now her fellow panellist lives in the plush abode.

Following a recent dinner with the 28-year-old star, chat show host Piers Morgan said: "It's true that she bought a luxury apartment in Hollywood, but she doesn't live in it. Paula Abdul does.

"It's one of the many weird knock-on effects of Cheryl's dramatically premature exit from the US version of 'The X Factor'.

"One thing's for sure - forget all the stuff you've read about Cheryl being down, out and miserable. She's back on top form and raring to go again."

However, this wasn't the only secret Piers learned about the brunette beauty during their dinner together, as he also admitted she "eats like a horse".

Writing in his column for Live magazine, he added: "Over a delightful two hours, Cheryl dispelled many a myth. She eats like a horse. Seriously, I've never seen so much food go down such a slim neck since I part-owned a young stallion called Ledham.

"We knocked back platefuls of yellow-fin tuna, blackened cod filet mignon with asparagus, baked crab handrolls . and then we ordered most of is all over again. 'I do love me food', she purred contentedly."

Noel Gallagher - Noel Gallagher Wants Musical Children

Noel Gallagher wants his kids to become musicians, but admits the industry is ''a bit strange for girls.

Noel Gallagher wants his kids to become musicians.

The 44-year-old rocker - who has daughter Anais, 11, and sons Donovan, four, and one-year-old Sonny - explained while he is keen for his sons to eventually share his passion for music, he thinks the industry is "a bit strange for girls".

He said: "It's the best job in the world. I hope they will be musicians one day.

"It's just the music business is a bit strange for girls. But the two lads I would encourage thoroughly."

Despite it being thought Noel could reunite with his brother Liam for an Oasis performance at next year's London 2012 Olympic Games following their feud over the breakdown of the band two years ago, Noel insists he doesn't "give a s**t about the Olympics".

Asked whether the pair plan to reform Oasis, he told Celebs On Sunday magazine: "Every time I mention that little flower's name, he sues me. Which is all very silly.

"The Olympics? Are you out of your f***ing mind? Nobody gives a s**t about the Olympics."

Lily Cole - Lily Cole 'Liberated' After Finishing Studies

 Lily Cole picture
Lily Cole felt "hugely liberated" to complete her degree at Cambridge University.

The model-and-actress - who obtained a double first in History of Art from the British educational institution - admitted she came close not to finishing her studies because she was "so exhausted" after having to juggle academia and acting.

She said: "I feel hugely liberated. I'm super glad that I managed to finish it - and semi-surprised.

"The closest I came to not finishing it was the day before my last exam. I was so exhausted. I'd been drinking a lot of coffee. I would never mind not doing the best if I felt like I gave my best effort."

The 23-year-old star also explained while she used to "p**s people off" with her ideas of ethical living, she is still in "constant dialogue" with herself about shunning the material world.

Lily added in an interview with Style magazine: "It's a constant dialogue with myself. With some friends yesterday, we were having a conversation about the material world versus the spiritual, and there are arguments for enjoying beauty and having less things, but things you love.

"It's always been cooler and safer to just not say anything and not care. I know I used to piss people off. Now I try not to talk too much and just do what I can."

Madonna 'wracked by nerves' over royal movie

Madonna admitted to nerves as her new film 'W.E.' screened at the BFI London Film Festival last night.

The 53-year-old singer -- who co-wrote and directed the film -- greeted fans on the red carpet at the Empire in London's Leicester Square.

She was joined by Irish actress Katie McGrath, who plays Lady Thelma Furness in the film, which looks at the romance between Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough) and Edward VIII (James D'Arcy), which led to the monarch's abdication.

Madonna revealed she felt under pressure showing the film in Britain. She said: "It's slightly nerve-wracking because it's about a British king; it's predominantly filmed in Britain; it's a British production; most of my actors are English."

The cast, which also includes Laurence Fox and Richard Coyle, agreed that Madonna paid great attention to detail as a director.

D'Arcy revealed: "She gave me so many books and every single page was underlined, and if it wasn't underlined it was highlighted, and if it wasn't highlighted there was a post-it note on it."

Eric Bana Will Be Elvis

 Eric Bana Will Be Elvis

Although both of them have been portrayed on screen several times before, actor-turned-writer/director Cary Elwes clearly believes there’s room for another take on Elvis Presley and Richard Nixon, nabbing Eric Bana and Danny Huston to play the music icon and the disgraced former US President in Elvis & Nixon.

Elwes has co-written the script with Joey and Hanala Sagal based on an actual meeting between the two men. Presley arrived in Washington DC in 1970 to visit the White House after writing Tricky Dick a letter asking to be made a Federal Agent At Large. He arrived bearing several gifts for the president, including a gun and family photos.

With Bana co-producing via his Pick Up Truck Pictures company and financing from Wettest County In The World producer Michael Benaroya, Elwes aims to start shooting as soon as everything is in place in LA and Shreveport.

Bana also has diamond heist thriller Brilliant in his future, having just worked on indie drama Blackbird. Huston will next crop up in the Clash Of The Titans sequel and Nic Cage thriller Medallion.

Rihanna And Chris Brown Nominated For Same Award

Rihanna and Chris Brown have been nominated in the same category at the 2011 Soul Train Awards.
The exes are competing against each other to win the Best Dance Performance Award. Rihanna is nominated for Only Girl (In The World)/What’s My Name, while Chris is shortlisted for She Ain’t You.
The Beautiful People singer has the most nominations at the Awards, with five nods including Song Of The Year and Album Of The Year. Beyoncé is next with four nominations.
The ceremony takes place in Atlanta on 17 November and it’s likely that both stars will attend. RiRi famously pulled out of the Grammys in 2009 after Chris assaulted her on the way home from a pre-Grammys party.

The We Found Love singer recently opened up to Esquire magazine about Chris and insisted she was over the hurt and glad he had found success. "It was too much anger. I’m really excited to see the breakthrough he’s had in his career. I would never wish anything horrible for him. Never. I never have," she insisted.

Chris, meanwhile, has had to face up to his actions almost daily, as he constantly faces speculation about his behaviour. He was recently forced to deny reports he’d been banned from the UK, due to his criminal record, after he pulled out of the Michael Jackson tribute concert.

Beyonce thinks Kelly Rowland would be a great mum

The 30-year-old singer – who is expecting her first child with husband Jay-Z – knows her former Destiny's Child bandmate isn't ready to have kids just yet but thinks her friend would be a great parent when she eventually settles down.
She said: "You know Kelly loves kids, and she will 100 per cent be a mum in the future. She is a busy girl at the moment, but when she feels the time is right and she’s done what she wants, then she is going to make a fantastic mum."
Beyonce and Kelly speak almost every day and the 'Run the World (Girls)' hitmaker admits they advise one another on every aspect of their lives.
She told new! magazine: "We speak and text all the time. With me being pregnant, she is always checking up on me to see how I am doing. We have known each other for so long, we are like sisters. She isn’t just somebody I was in a group with, this girl is my family.
"We both call each other for advice. We were 16 when we started out in this industry together and know all there is to know about each other. It’s not just about work, we advise each other about everything."

Sue Lloyd, the glamorous star of Crossroads, The Ipcress File and Keeping Up Appearances, has died at the age of 72.

Broken-hearted since her husband, the dashing actor Ronald Allen, succumbed to cancer just weeks after their marriage, Sue Lloyd has died at the age of 72.

“Sue suffered with her health in recent years, but she never complained,” her niece, Joanna Mitchell, tells Mandrake. “She had a great sense of fun. She worked with people like Peter Sellers and Ronnie Barker and they became her friends. She was very gregarious and got on with everyone she met.”

Lloyd, who starred opposite Sir Michael Caine in The Ipcress File, began courting Allen after they were cast as the married couple David and Barbara Hunter in the soap opera Crossroads. The couple were together off-screen for 13 years, long after the Midlands motel closed its doors in 1988.

Lloyd, who trained with Sadler’s Wells Ballet School, appeared in films including Revenge of the Pink Panther and became friends with Joan Collins after they appeared in The Stud and The Bitch.

Lloyd, a former model, appeared in many of the most popular television series of the Sixties and Seventies, including The Two Ronnies, The Saint, and The Persuaders! She later appeared in the BBC sitcom Keeping Up Appearances.

Kate Winslet put bra on night of fire

Kate Winslet put bra on night of fire

Kate Winslet has revealed she went to put on a bra before fleeing Sir Richard Branson's Caribbean home when a fire destroyed it in August.

Kate Winslet put on a bra before fleeing a house fire on Sir Richard Branson's island.

The actress was holidaying in the Great House on Necker Island, the British businessman's private Caribbean island, with her two children Mia, 10, and seven-year-old Joe in August when the blaze ripped through the property.

Richard praised Kate for carrying his 90-year-old mother Eve to safety from the burning house, but the 36-year-old star admits he mind was all over the place when realised what was happening.

During an appearance on 'The Graham Norton Show', she said: "It was genuinely very scary. We woke up at 4.30 in the morning to yelling that there was a fire. I jumped up and ran immediately towards the fire but then realised we might die so turned around, told my children to go in and shut the door and then thought, 'Now what do I do?'

"I ran into the bedroom and put on a bra. In disastrous moments like that, you do the strangest things. I started to put on a bra and thought, 'No, that's going to take me too long,' so off came the bra, on came the T-shirt, I grabbed the children and I picked up granny!"

Modest Kate also played down her bravery on the night, insisting, despite Richard's high praise, she didn't really save Eve's life.

She added: "No, I didn't save her life. I carried her down the stairs is the truth of it.

"We were all at the top of some very slippery stone steps and in the middle of a hurricane - it was so dramatic, there was lashing rain and it really did feel like being in a movie. In truth, I carried Eve Branson down the stairs . She is an extraordinary stoic, powerful lady and she could have totally made it out on her own."

Robbie Williams signs with Universal to release new solo album

We've been hoping for a new Robbie Williams album for the last couple of years, so we're excited to hear that we'll be getting new music from Rob next year thanks to his new record deal *woops*

Robbie Williams is bringing out more solo music. Fact. / WENN
Robbie made history in 2002 when he signed a MASSIVE record-breaking £80million deal with EMI, which prompted his famous quip: "I'm rich beyond my wildest dreams."
That contract ended when Rob released his last album, 'Reality Killed the Video Star' in 2009 and he's taken his time to sign on the dotted line with another label.

He filled that time pretty profitably by making many dreams come true when he reunited with his old band and went touring with Take That, which earned him £10million, the Daily Mail reports.
All good things come to an end, however, and Rob was back on the market as a solo artist.
Robbie's now revealed on his official website that he's struck a deal with Universal Music.

Gary is working with Robbie on the album / WENN
He's been busy recording the album in his studio in Los Angeles, but still found time to help Gary Barlow with his X Factor duties, of course.
Gary has also been helping write and produce the songs on Robbie's new album.
Rob told Esquire magazine back in July: "Gaz is great for me because he knows how I should sound. He wanted to make a Lennon and McCartney-type album. That was his idea — big, standard records. At the minute it's just me and him finishing the album and I love it."
So when can we expect the new tunes, Rob?
Next autumn.
We're counting down the days.

Lady Gaga Does Breakfast At Tiffany’s

Lady Gaga channelling Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany's

We could hardly believe our eyes when we saw this pic of Lady Gaga. It would seem the meat dresses and lobster headdresses are on hold while she channels an unlikely style hero – Audrey Hepburn. Donning an LBD, long gloves and, most importantly, a whole load of bling, Gaga looked rather amazing. We love this new look on Gaga – her signature quirks are still present, like the leather gloves, bug-eye sunnies and green streaks in her hair, but overall she is giving Audrey Hepburn a run for her money. Breakfast At Tiffany’s anyone?

Michael Buble has a Christmas album coming out, but could his next record be a collection of lullabies?
The sexy Canadian crooner has admitted that he really wants to have babies with his gorgeous wife Luisana Loreley Lopilato de la Torre,

“I've said to [Luisana] a million times I'd love to have kids,” Michael tells ET Canada. “But I always say to her when you're ready – when you feel like you've lived and you've partied and done all the things you want to do. When you've worked your butt off, then tell me.”
The singer went on to confess that he feels jealous when his friends announce their pregnancies,

“All my friends have babies so every time one of them says, 'Guess what, you're going to be an uncle,' part of me is so happy for them and the other part of me is jealous.”
Awww, we can’t to see a few little baby Bubles running around the place.

The band issued the following statement on their website:

"After 14 years, 26 top ten hits including 14 number one singles, 11 top 5 albums, 7 of which hit the top spot and have collectively sold over 44 million copies around the world, 10 sell out tours and countless memories that we will forever cherish, we today announce our plan to go our separate ways after a greatest hits collection this Christmas and a farewell tour next year.

We see the Greatest Hits collection and the farewell tour as the perfect way to celebrate our incredible career along with our fans. Westlife - Westlife To Split After 14 Years, Announce Farewell Tour

Westlife , Westlife, the best-selling Irish boy band, have announced they are to split after 14 years together. The group, who have sold over 44 million albums worldwide, plan to split after a Greatest Hits record this Christmas and farewell tour next year.

In a statement on their website, Kian, Mark, Nicky and lead singer Shane told fans, "Over the years, Westlife has become so much more to us than just a band, we are a family. We would like to thank our fans who have been with us on this amazing journey and are part of our family too". Considered one of the most successful UK boy bands of all time, the group have scored 26 top ten hits, including 14 number one singles, 11 top five albums and 10 sell out tours.

They have had more UK No.1's than Abba, Michael Jackson, Madonna and The Rolling Stones - their chart record is eclipsed only by The Beatles and Elvis Presley. A source close to the group denied speculation of a rift, saying, "There's no bad blood in the band, they're still great pals. But all good things come to an end and they are all keen to do their own thing". The final tour will see the band showcase all of their 14 number one hits, including 'Flying without Wings' and 'Swear it Again'.

According to the UK's Sun newspaper, singer Shane Filan is planning to embark on a solo career, while Mark Feehily is also looking to stay in the music business, possibly as a songwriter. Nicky Byrne will make the foray into radio presenting, while Kian Egan is moving into television.

Irish boyband Westlife announce split

LONDON (AP) -- After 14 years as one of Ireland's most successful boy bands, Westlife are finally handing in their mics.

The pop group members issued a statement announcing their split, saying "the decision is entirely amicable."

"After spending all of our adult life together so far, we want to have a well-earned break and look at new ventures. ... We would like to thank our fans who have been with us on this amazing journey and are part of our family too."

Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan will do one last farewell U.K. tour next May.

Westlife's new single "Lighthouse" will be released in November, with a greatest hits collection reaching stores in time for Christmas.

The band has sold over 44 million records worldwide.

Westlife: good night and good riddance

The news that Westlife have decided to call an end to their 14 year career was not greeted by wailing and gnashing of teeth in my household. I was woken at 7.30 this morning by a call from BBC Radio 5 Live to ask what was Irish boy band’s greatest contribution to music. “Breaking up,” was the only thing I could think of.

It is probably fair to say that I wasn’t their target audience. But what I really hate is that very concept: an audience being cynically targeted by backroom entrepreneurs and managers with no real love of pop music.

Westlife were the spawn of Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, two of the most manipulative characters in the music business, with their emphasis very much on the latter part of that equation. They represented not the peak of the 90s manufactured boy band phenomenon but its nadir, the moment when the business squeezes out the music altogether, slowly strangling the golden goose in the name of profitability. It happens in every genre, from glam rock to Britpop, when the industry races around signing bands who remind them not of the next big thing, but the last. But it is particularly prevalent in manufactured pop, which appeals to the kind of control oriented characters for whom the bottom line is always profits and percentage points.

Genuinely great manufactured bands, from the  Monkees to Take That to the Spice Girls, tend to come at the front end of a trend, before all the wrinkles have been ironed out, so you still get the kind of kooks and crinkles and human eccentricities that make them interesting. The really dull ones follow later, when the least creative elements of the music business decide they have a complete lock on how something works and ruthlessly concoct a product that hits all the requisite marketing demands, controlling the process from start to finish.

Even Boyzone, Louis Walsh’s first attempt at jumping on the boy bandwagon, were kind of awkward and interesting, their navvies in suits look representing the first moment when Ireland became culturally cool. Westlife were basically Boyzone with the edges rubbed off, five good looking Irish fellas who could sing in harmony, change key on cue, and scrubbed up nice in the kind of conservative Armani-styled suits favoured by Cowell himself. Top teams of commercial songwriters and producers were hired to write smooth, clichéd love songs. A massive marketing budget was put in place. All the rest was left to hormones.

Westlife had a lot of hits. Fourteen number ones, apparently. And I don’t doubt that they matter to their fans, and that they have been the soundtrack to magical moments in many lives, and perhaps some tears will be shed today. But as for the rest of us, those pop fans and consumers not smack bang in the middle of Cowell and Walsh’s target, their career is one big blank. Their music never bled out into the wider world, it had no resonance with the moment.

There is a place in pop for handsome young men in nice clothes singing formulaic song in perfect harmony. It’s called the remainder bin.

Beyonce: Irish teen Janet can win The X Factor

Irish X Factor star Janet Devlin has won over singing sensation Beyonce, who has described the teenager as "very sweet".

The superstar backed her Destiny's Child pal Kelly Rowland to mentor the winning act and revealed that she thinks the Irish hopeful can be the one to go all the way.

"I think Kelly will win, not just because she's my sister but because I really do think she has the strongest acts," the 30-year-old said.

"Janet is very sweet, I can see the public becoming very endeared towards her and picking up the phone.

"These shows are as much about personality and winning over the public as they are performance and vocals," added the the wife of rapper Jay Z.

Beyonce was joined in her praise for Janet by Saturdays star Una Healy who thinks the Tyrone contestant is "brilliant" on stage, despite falling to second place in bookmakers' favourites to win this year's series.

"The whole point of the X Factor is they are looking for someone unique -- she has got something special and you can't wait to watch her -- she is unique," said Una (30), who added that she would like to see her group appear on the talent programme.

"Not really sure if we have planned that yet -- it's quite competitive to get a slot on X Factor."

Last year's runners up One Direction, as well as footballers Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney, and singer Lily Allen have all given the thumbs up to the budding songstress.

One Direction's Mullingar teen Niall Horan has tweeted Janet on numerous occasions that he is a big fan of hers and has congratulated her on her voice.

Janet has racked up a whopping 122,716 followers on her social networking page since her first appearance on Simon Cowell's hit ITV series over the summer.

Kelly (30) sailed through last week's elimination show with her three contestants, Misha B, Sophie Habibas and our Janet all making it through the public vote.

Janet gave another show-stopping performance for the love and heartbreak theme and was the second act to go through to the next round on Sunday.

The teenager was singing despite the devastating death of her grandfather just a few days prior to the live show.

James Cameron Talks Avatar Sequels

Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the past few centuries and have no idea what a ‘cinemaplex’ is, chances are you’ll have heard of AVATAR. The highest-grossing film of all time in Canada and the USA, director James Cameron’s global phenomenon won three Academy Awards, two Golden Globes and two BAFTAs. It’s no surprise, then, that sequels are in the works.

Much speculation and discussion has circulated the internet in the aftermath of the original film, with much of it coming from Cameron himself. In a recent video interview, the esteemed director offered a few more nuggets of information. ‘I’m really writing the second and third films together to complete a three-film story arc.’ Cameron told US show Nightline. ‘We will see the oceans of Pandora, and that’s an eco-system I’m dying to start designing.’

The first film’s themes revolved heavily around the environment and humanity’s ruthlessness in harvesting natural resources. Whilst a few of the plot points were slightly lazy or ridiculous – the resource so desperately sought by the human race, Unobtainium, is named after the plot device it acts as, for instance – the core message was clear: look what humanity is doing to nature; to the rainforests. Take a step back and look at the harm humanity is causing.

But whether you think it’s government propaganda, the saviour of the free world or just a bunch of hippy crap, Cameron knows that his films have to be ‘entertainment, first and foremost’, promising a distinct lack of Al Gore cameos. Of course, the themes and messages will carry over – it is a trilogy arc – but Cameron knows where his priorities are.

AVATAR 2 and 3 will also expand in scale – ‘there’ll be other planets as well,’ Cameron promised. ‘It’s a real cornucopia – a treat for the eyes.’ If AVATAR the first was anything to go by, we’re in for a bit more than a ‘treat’. Grossing more than two billion dollars worldwide, the original 2009 epic used all manner of 3D technology to immerse audiences in the world of Pandora.

James Cameron knows how to deliver on a film – think back to classics such as TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY (1991) or TITANIC (1997) – and the AVATAR franchise should continue to offer no less than his best.

AVATAR 2 and 3 will be directed by James Cameron and star Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver. They are currently targeted for December 2014 and 2015 releases, respectively.

"Slash Would Pass Out And Piss His Pants", Says Axl Rose

"Slash Would Pass Out And Piss His Pants", Says Axl Rose

Guns N Roses vocalist Axl Rose has claimed that iconic guitarist Slash used to pass out and wet himself backstage after shows – and that he’d benefit from it by stealing the girls he’d leave behind.

The feuding pair of musicians have been far from the best of friends for the past ten years, and have exchanged digs at each other about as often as Liam and Noel Gallagher – with Axl once describing Slash as a ‘cancer’. This time, Axl’s turned childish with his insults, insisting to fans that the top hat-wearing guitar player is a bed-wetter.

Rose told Paraguayan fans that during their wild shows in the 80’s, Slash would bring back a girl or two and get absolutely trashed – to the point where he would pee his pants in front of them. When the girls got grossed out, Axl was there to feed on the scraps left behind by the rock legend, inviting them to come with him rather than his fuzzy-haired friend.

“It was great, because he would pass out and piss his pants, and then I would get to be with the girl,” Axl boasted. “So I always followed Slash because I knew he would pass out and I would get the girl.”

“The girl would be like, 'Ah, he just peed in my bed!' and I’d be like, 'It’s okay, it’s okay.' The next day he would just ignore it. He says it in his book, like once, but no – it happened every time, all the time.”

We know that Axl can’t keep his mouth shut when it comes to Slash, but really Axl? You’re trying to make him look bad... while painting yourself as a creepy guy who preys on leftovers. Still, it proves that Slash’s name is one of the most appropriate of all time

Ready For Transformers 4 AND 5?

Ready For Transformers 4 AND 5?Given how much money the Transformers franchise has made to date, there was no way toy company Hasbro and film partners Paramount were going to stop serving up juicy steaks made from that cash cow. And now, during an otherwise dull-as-ditchwater earnings conference call, the Hasbro brass has confirmed what we all knew already: that everyone involved is considering options for future outings. But the actual news is that the next step might be to go all Matrix/Pirates and shoot two new outings back to back.

According to Variety, the companies are in “active” discussions (we like to think that means they get together and talk while completing an obstacle course, but that would be way too much fun) with Steven Spielberg and even director Michael Bay about new films.

Bay, of course, has said in the past that he’d like to step away from the series to focus on other projects. But he’s usually been tempted to return by A) dump trucks of money backed up to his house (he’s not made of stone!) and B) the chance to play with new filmmaking toys (even ones he wasn’t sure of before, like 3D). And though he seems to be committed this time to getting back to non-robotic Bayhem, such as bodybuilding pic Pain And Gain, there’s a chance he’ll be back.

One person who likely won’t return however, is Shia LaBeouf, who appears locked into the idea that he’s moved on to other things. Which is less of a problem for the studio, since we all know the punters show up for Optimus Prime and co anyway.

What Paramount does have is a story idea cooked up by Dark Of The Moon writer Ehren Kruger, which the executives are apparently happy with. It remains to be seen whether the two-TF film plan works out and if Bay actually does sit in the director’s chair, particularly if he has to make two movies at once.

In related Hasbro property news, the company has made a deal with Zombieland writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese to work on turning Micronauts into a movie.

Micronauts, in case you’ve never heard of them, originated as a successful but ultimately short-lived toy line known as Microman in Japan. A series of robots and vehicles with interchangeable parts, they’re more based around inner space than giant machines fighting.

Deadline reports that JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot company is partnering with Paramount to develop the movie, but there are no other details yet. It’s not Wernick and Reese’s first Paramount project- they also wrote the script for GI Joe 2: Retaliation…

And talking of Zombieland (it's a three-link story! Somewhere an angel is getting drunk at a bar!), it would appear that Sony really is going in another direction with any possible follow-up as the studio’s TV division and the Fox network are now developing a comedy series based on the movie, which Wernick and Reese would write.

Interestingly, the duo originally planned the concept as a TV show, so they’ve already got a few ideas worked out. Producer Gavin Polone tells the Hollywood Reporter that if the series gets the greenlight, it’ll replace any plan to make a sequel film. It’s surely no coincidence that current hot zombie show The Walking Dead has returned to record ratings…

Julian Barnes leads race for Booker Prize

The shortlisted books for the Man Booker Prize 2011
The winner of the Man Booker Prize for literature is revealed later, with four-time hopeful Julian Barnes favourite for The Sense of an Ending.
While this year's shortlist has been the best-selling in Booker history, some in the literary world have accused the prize of becoming too populist.
The other nominees are Carol Birch, Patrick deWitt, Esi Edugyan, Stephen Kelman and AD Miller.
The £50,000 prize winner will be announced at London's Guildhall.
Bookmakers William Hill and Ladbrokes both have Barnes to win, with Birch's Jamrach's Menagerie as second favourite.
"We are bracing ourselves for a Booker battering as literary punters seem to believe Barnes is a banker bet," said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Previous years have shown, however, that the Booker winner is notoriously hard to predict.
Last year Tom McCarthy's C had been the favourite to win, but the prize went to Howard Jacobson for his comic novel The Finkler Question.

When the final six novels were announced last month, this year's chair of judges, Dame Stella Rimington, said the focus was on readability.
"We wanted people to buy these books and read them, not buy them and admire them," said the former MI5 chief turned novelist,
But critics have accused the Booker judges of dumbing down, and one group of literary leading lights announced a rival award, The Literature Prize.
The award's backers claimed the Booker "now prioritises a notion of 'readability' over artistic achievement".
Ion Trewin, the Booker's literary director, dismissed the announcement as "a minor distraction".
"Do I detect sour grapes in some of those who support the possibility of a new literary prize, said to be a rival to the Man Booker?" he wrote in the Telegraph on Monday.
A copy of The Sense of an Ending novel by Julian Barnes
But this year's judges faced more criticism from Sir Andrew Motion, who chaired the Booker panel in 2010.
The former poet laureate told The Guardian the focus on readability "opens up a completely false divide between what is high end and what is readable, as if they are somehow in opposition to one other, which is patently not true".
Earlier in October, the New Statesman's lead fiction reviewer Leo Robson wrote: "If things continue as they are, it isn't hard to imagine a time when the prize will be seen as a way not of celebrating novels, just of selling them."
William Hill said more than 50% of all bets on the Man Booker Prize had been for Julian Barnes, who has been shortlisted for the prize on three previous occasions, but without success.
The 65-year-old was nominated in 1984 for Flaubert's Parrot, in 1998 for England, England and in 2005 for Arthur and George.
Dark underbelly Barnes's novel The Sense of an Ending has a middle-aged man reflecting on the paths he and his childhood friends have taken as the past catches up with him via a bequeathed diary.
This year's shortlist contains two debut novelists, Miller and Kelman, as well as two women - Edugyan and Birch.
Two of the authors are Canadian - Edugyan and deWitt - while the other four are British. Four of the novels are from independent publishers.
Kelman's debut novel Pigeon English tells the story of an 11-year-old boy - recently arrived from from Ghana - who investigates the murder of a local boy on a tough London estate.
Miller's thriller Snowdrops, which reveals the dark underbelly of Moscow, was inspired by his time spent living in Russia.

Booker judges Susan Hill, Chris Mullin, Dame Stella Rimington, Matthew d"Ancona, and Gaby Wood

Edugyan's Half-Blood Blues begins in 1930s Berlin with a jazz musician going missing as the Nazis take over the streets.

The Sisters Brothers, deWitt's second novel, is set against the backdrop of the 1850s Californian gold rush and is believed to be the first Western novel to feature on the shortlist.

Birch's novel, Jamrach's Menagerie, begins in the slums of Victorian London, and sends its protagonist Jaffy Brown on a whale ship bound for the Indian Ocean.

Sales of the six novels have exceeded those of any other Booker shortlist.

Snowdrops has been the bestselling book, shifting more than 28,500 copies between 4 September and 8 October, according to Nielsen BookScan.

In the same period, Jamrach's Menagerie sold more than 16,500 copies, The Sense of An Ending 12,500, Pigeon English 10,300, The Sisters Brothers 7,600, and Half Blood Blues almost 6,400.

Rimington's fellow Booker judges are writer and journalist Matthew d'Ancona, author Susan Hill, author and politician Chris Mullin and Gaby Wood of the Telegraph.

30 Seconds to Mars to Make Music History

 Seconds To Mars

Rockers 30 Seconds to Mars are set to make history in December (11) for performing the most shows during a single album cycle.

The hitmakers will perform their 300th show at the Hammerstein Ballroomin New York City on 7 December (11) and then kick-off a week of special shows to celebrate the milestone.

He told the guests, "To say that the world got smaller, emptier, darkerand lonelier when we lost Elizabeth is an understatement. "She was a true rock, a pioneer, a pathfinder, a trailblazer and a starwho will always burn bright and always had time to laugh at herself". The event raised money for the late actress' charity, the Elizabeth Taylor Hivaids Foundation, and Sir Elton adds, "Many of us remember all toowell, those early days of the Aids epidemic in the early to mid-1980s.
It brought out the worst - hysteria, bigotry, callous indifference.
But italso allowed an angel and warrior like Elizabeth to rise up and show us how to respond instead with compassion, reason, and humanity". Taylor's son Michael tells People.com, "My mother was an extraordinary woman whose life touched so many, most of whom we will never know.
Our whole family is extremely proud of her accomplishments, and know what a unique and special experience it was to have her in our lives.
Today, it wasespecially meaningful for us to be with so many good friends to celebrate her spirit, which will be with us forever".

Milla Jovovich 'proud of 3D cleavage in Three Musketeers'

Milla Jovovich 'Three Musketeers' DS interview

Milla Jovovich has admitted that she was proud of her cleavage in The Three Musketeers.

The Resident Evil actress revealed that she had to prepare herself for it to be viewed in the 3D medium.

"I did have to prepare a lot to make my cleavage what it was," Jovovich told MTV News. "I had to eat a lot of pasta and get cinched really tightly into the corset to get the effect and let the girls do the acting for me."

She joked: "I think the left one is more talented than the right."

Meanwhile, her husband and Three Musketeers director Paul W.S. Anderson told the website that he is amused by the amount of attention that his wife's cleavage has received.

"There was a review of the movie that said Milla's cleavage is worth the price of admission," Anderson said. "Cleavage in 3D: It was what the medium was invented for."

Jovovich is currently shooting Resident Evil: Retribution, which she has promised will be a "bigger, more exciting adventure" for her character Alice.

A stage collapse on the set of the fifth instalment in the Resident Evil franchise injured 16 zombies last week.

X-Men Writers On for Top Gun Sequel

X-Men Writers On for Top Gun Sequel

It’s been a while since any news about a possible Top Gun sequel hit our news radar, but now it looks like there has finally been a solid development as X-Men: First Class contributors Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been hired to work on a script for the film.

Last we heard, Tony Scott was definitely involved and has been driving the development in the direction of today’s airborne tech, with a focus on the pilots who fly drones and other vehicles via high-tech equipment. We doubt that’ll be the total focus (there’s not as much danger involved when the plane doesn’t have an actual pilot to get shot down), but now it’ll be Miller and Stentz’s job to find the drama.

There’s no clear word on what that will actually be, but given that Christopher McQuarrie reportedly came up with some story ideas, they should at least have a firm basis from which to start.

It now remains to be seen when (or even if) the film itself will actually jump off the deck and head into the production danger zone, but take this as a sign that it’s creeping closer to really happening. Whether we need it or not…
