Katie Price's magazine takes us for mugs - who wants to read all about her?

The measure of celebrity success is changing. A book series is now de rigueur. Having your own fragrance is essential, while a clothing range marks you out as being a cut above.
But the ultimate celebrity status symbol? Your own magazine based on yourself, of course.
First there was chatshow queen Oprah Winfrey’s slick title, O, a self-help read that was heralded the most successful magazine launch ever.

Rio Ferdinand’s 5 glossy is a more edgy mix of fashion, interviews with footballers, gadgets and music.

So it was just a matter of time before Katie Price decided to launch Katie, devoted to her life and thoughts.

Suffice to say, learning that Katie Price ‘can’t just leave one Rice Krispie in the bowl: there has to be two’, is not life-changing stuff.

But at £3.99 an issue, Katie magazine is poised to net the glamour model £370,000 a year.

If it takes off, it may prove that she’s no fool — but what it says about the British public is anyone’s guess.
