'The Smurfs' tops Australian box office for second time

The Smurfs

The Smurfs has topped the Australian box office for the second time this week.

The animated movie, which stars Neil Patrick Harris, generated over $2.6 million in box office sales in its second week at the cinema, leaving Rowan Atkinson's Johnny English Reborn in second place again.

Third spot is filled by Taylor Lautner thriller Abduction after it made $1,327,692 in ticket sales, followed by the revival of The Lion King in 3D technology with almost a million dollars made.

Australian-made movie Red Dog remains in the top ten at number five, followed by Jason Sudeikis and Jason Bateman comedy Horrible Bosses, while The Help sits in seventh place after it generated $706,429 in box office sales.
