CHIPMUNK admits he almost had a meltdown because being a chart-topping rapper became too easy.
Speaking at the MOBO nominations party, Chipmunk told me: “I lost myself at one point. I fell into the trap of knowing how to make a pop song and having a hit. I’d studied radio and worked out how to have a hit – and I had a series of them.
“I was freaking out I’d lost my credibility and I knew there had to be more to music. With my last album I feel I’m back on the map as an artist.”
Chipmunk is up for two gongs at the Mobos at Glasgow’s SECC on October 5.
