Amy Winehouse, the acclaimed British jazz and soul singer, has been found dead at her North London apartment - she was 27-years-old. Winehouse allegedly died of a suspected drug overdose, although this is yet to be be confirmed, reports the UK's Daily Telegraph. The passing has resulted in an outpouring of tribute messages on Twitter, most notably from the singer's close friend Kelly Osbourne.
The reality television star tweeted, "I can't even breath right now I'm crying so hard, I just lost one of my best friends. I love you forever Amy and will never forget the real you!". The GRAMMY AWARD winner was pronounced dead after paramedics arrived at her flat in Camden at 4.30pm on Saturday (23rd July 2011). The death follows years of widely-publicised drug and alcohol addiction, and Amy cancelled her recent European tour after several disastrous concerts in which she was unable to perform. Numerous other stars of the stage and screen have been tweeting about the tragic passing, including country singer Leann Rimes who told followers, "RIP Amy Winehouse. So sad to see such a talent gone and her life end in tragedy". Winehouse, whose second studio album 'Back To Black' made her one of the most successful British artists in recent memory, often documented her battle with drugs in her song writing. Amy Winehouse's father was reportedly travelling on a flight between the USA and England when he was alerted to his daughter's death.
