Michael Jordan engaged to model Yvette Prieto

Basketball legend Michael Jordan is engaged to his long-time girlfriend Yvette Prieto, his spokeswoman said on Thursday.

Jordan, 48, considered the greatest U.S. basketball player of all time, proposed to Cuban-American model Prieto, 32, over the Christmas holidays, the spokeswoman told TV station WCNC in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The couple have been dating for about three years. It will be the second marriage for Jordan, who divorced his wife Juanita in 2006 after 17 years.

Jordan spent almost 19 years with the National Basketball Association (NBA), retiring twice from the Chicago Bulls before finally quitting the game and the Washington Wizards in 2003.

He endorsed the successful line of Nike Air Jordan athletic shoes and appeared as himself in the 1996 movie "Space Jam."

Jordan is currently the majority owner of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats.

The Amazing Spider-Man Story Spoiler Revealed

It was exactly one month ago that the tie-in marketing for Marc Webb's upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man first revealed the scaly face of the film's villain, the Lizard (Rhys Ifans). Today, Bleeding Cool spotted another product-based clue to the film's plot that threatens to be a bit more spoiler-heavy, also involving Spidey's reptilian foe.

The below image shows off the package design for a set of Mega Bloks titled "Oscorp Tower FX Battle." The three characters included are Spider-Man, the Lizard and "SWAT Lizard," the reveal of which seems to confirm a report from nearly a year ago by Big Fanboy that claimed the conclusion of the film would involve Dr. Connors transforming an entire SWAT team into his lizard-like minions.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field, the Webb-directed film hits 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on July 3.

Celebrity Big Brother 2012 housemates revealed?

Celebrity Big Brother kicks off next Thursday and we know you are all dying to find out who the housemates will be.
When the reality TV series begins on the 5th of January, there will be a whole host of famous faces in the remodeled Elstree residence and we have compiled a list of all the stars rumoured to be on the lineup so far. Click on the star’s names for more details.

FRANKIE COCOZZA: The X Factor star is said to be cashing in on his recent rise to fame and despite being booted off reality TV show this year, the big haired lothario seems keen to put himself out there once again.
WAGNER: Another failed X Factor star, it is claimed that Wagner will be in the house when CBB starts next week, hoping to find love with one of the younger female housemates.
DENISE WELCH: The Loose Women panelist took on Dancing On Ice last year and this January she’s set herself another challenge. She’s well known for flashing her bits and shooting her mouth off so producers will be hoping she’ll show her fiery side!
MICHAEL MASDEN: Acted in Reservoir Dogs and Free Willy and is best pals with Splash star Darryl Hannah. Producers are hoping that the 54 year old party lover will spice things up in the Big Brother house.

NATASHA GIGGS: Only known because she had an affair with her famous brother in law Ryan Giggs, Natasha’s not much of a celeb in our eyes but then neither was Nancy Dell’Olio and she’s done OK for herself in recent months!

RUBY WAX: We haven’t seen much of straight talking comedienne Ruby Wax in recent years, so it will be nice if she makes a bit of a comeback on BB. It is reported that producers are expecting her to put her postgraduate certificate in psychotherapy to good use, during chats with her fellow housemates.

ANDREW STONE: Stone is a dance teacher at Pineapple Dance Studios and shot to fame on the Sky 1 TV show of the same name. Stone took part in the 2010 series of Big Brother and was part of an all-male tribute band to the Pussycat Dolls called the “Alley Cat Dogs” but says he left when he was the only one who could dance well enough.

SHAUN WILLIAMSON: He’s best known as Barry from Eastenders and more recently Shaun appeared in a promo for Celebrity Big Brother, begging for a spot in the house. Word is that the producers have granted Williamson his wish.

NATALIE CASSIDY: Another Easties star, best known for her role of Sonia Jackson, her constant weight struggle and her volatile relationship with the father of her baby daughter, it is reported that Natalie is hoping to breathe some new life into her TV career by competing a stint on the Channel 5 series.

KIRK NORCROSS: Amy Childs left TOWIE for Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, and Marj Wright jumped ship for a stint on I’m A Celebrity. Word is that Kirk is planning to do the same and is considering joining either Celebrity Big Brother, or channel 5′s The Bachelor.

KRISTINA and KARISSA SHANNON: Sexy Playboy models who just happen to be twins, it’s not hard to guess why bosses would want these two beauties in the house!

Westlife concerned over split

Westlife star Mark Feehily has admitted the quartet worried that no one would care that they were going their separate ways in 2012
Westlife were anxious about revealing split news
Speaking to the Irish Daily Star, Feehily said: "We were worried about saying we were splitting up.
"But we've just found out that our tour is going to be the biggest tour we've ever done... So thankfully people - well, our fans - care."

However, he said the members of the group are worried about the future.
"It is bittersweet because the reaction has been fantastic but we still have to face the unknown which is scary. We're walking into the dark - we've got no idea what's facing us," he said.

The 31-year-old said he wants to stay in the music business, but fears he'll never be a solo success.
"Ultimately people are going to look at whatever we do as either complete flops or successes," he said.
"You just have to be positive with yourself and try to do something good."

DiCaprio finds new love with model

Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio has moved on from his failed romance with Blake Lively - he's reportedly dating lingerie model Erin Heatherton.

The Titanic hunk fell for Gossip Girl beauty Lively earlier this year after she auditioned for the female lead in DiCaprio's upcoming movie adaptation of The Great Gatsby, but their representatives confirmed the relationship was over in October.

Now DiCaprio appears to have rekindled his love for models - he was spotted enjoying a cosy dinner with Victoria's Secret stunner Heatherton in Sydney, Australia before the Christmas holiday and they have since been seen together in Los Angeles.

The actor has previously romanced supermodels Gisele Bundchen and Bar Refaeli.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand 'close to splitting' after Christmas row

Katy and Russell were pictured spending Christmas thousands of miles apart (Getty)

The US singer and British comedian were all set to enjoy the festive season together at his London apartment, with Katy planning to fly her entire family over from the States. But a huge fight broke out in the days leading up to December 25th when she announced she would instead be travelling to Hawaii for Christmas.
An insider told Us Weekly a bust-up ensued and resulted in Russell spending the period with pals in Cornwall while his wife bathed in the Pacific Ocean in Kauai.
'They had a massive fight. She was like, 'f*** you. I'm going to do my own thing',' to which Russell replied: 'Fine. F*** you too.'
The source went on to predict a separation might not be far away, telling the magazine: 'The split may come soon, but they are both so dramatic and volatile, the relationship could become great again.'
Katy is said to have rejected the idea of travelling to London at the last minute over fears her husband does not respect her family, their Christian beliefs or her friends.

Ultimo lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone splits from husband after posing in underwear

Ultima lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone splits from husband after posing in underwear

A statement issued by their lawyers said the split after 19 years of marriage was “amicable”, nobody else was involved and they would continue to work together at MJM International, the company they co-founded.
Mrs Mone, 40, a former model who created the cleavage-enhancing Ultimo bra, was awarded an OBE last year for services to the lingerie industry.
The publicity-conscious Glasgow entrepreneur and mother-of-three said last month that she was “tired and exhausted”, adding: “I always thought money would make you happy but it is seriously not true.
"Chasing the money, the houses, the cars, does it really all matter? Money does make things easier but it certainly doesn't ensure your happiness."
She previously admitted her husband, who she met when she was 17, was furious when she posed in her own lingerie for an Ultimo advertising campaign in 2010 after dropping from a size 20 to a size 10.
Shortly after the photo shoot she said: "He’s bothered on so many levels. He doesn’t want other men looking at his wife like that. He thinks it’s harmful for the kids. And he thinks it's detrimental for the business.”
Earlier this year she admitted: “He was appalled I'd posed in my underwear. He didn't speak to me for days. It's something we can't talk about, even now."

Mrs Mone, who was brought up in the east end of Glasgow and left school at 15, was also forced last year to deny rumours over her friendships with the rugby player Gavin Henson and the actor Shane Richie.
A statement released through the couple’s lawyers yesterday said: "It is with regret that we intimate that Mr Michael J Mone & Mrs Michelle G Mone OBE have decided to separate. There are no other parties involved and the split is amicable.

"Michael and Michelle's focus will be the welfare of their children, which is their main priority. They will continue to work together in their business MJM International.”

Mrs Mone and her husband launched MJM International in East Kilbride in 1996, and its popularity soared after Julia Roberts wore one of the company's bras in the film in Erin Brockovich.
The businesswoman and CEO, now divides her time between Glasgow and her home in Mayfair, London.
She said recently that the company, which has a turnover of around pounds42 million, had recorded a 34 per cent year on year increase in sales in December.

She added that the firm had been boosted by the Argentinian model Luisana Lopilato, the 24-year-old Argentinian wife of Michael Buble, and by deals with Debenhams and Tesco.
Helena Christensen, the ex-Spice Girl Mel B and the actress Kelly Brook have all appeared in Ultimo campaigns.

'Hellboy in Hell' brings closure, says Mike Mignola

 Hellboy

Hellboy in Hell will bring closure to the 'Beast of the Apocalypse' storyline, according to creator Mike Mignola.

The writer told io9 that the 2012 miniseries will reveal the origin of the eponymous demon and tie up loose ends from the long-running plot.

It's a personal story about him, but with huge ramifications for the structure of Hell. I'm trying to get Hellboy free of the giant, 'Beast-of-the-Apocalypse' storyline. That story has to get bigger before it can be put away," he explained.

"This first arc is the culmination of all the prophecy crap I've been trotting out throughout the years. We put a lot of things to bed."

Hellboy: The Fury #3, published by Dark Horse Comics earlier this year, saw the title character meet his demise. Hellboy in Hell will pick up directly after, dealing with the protagonist's afterlife.

Hellboy in Hell, written and illustrated by Mignola, debuts in August 2012.

Katy Perry Vacations in Hawaii

Katy Perry Vacations in Hawaii | Katy Perry

It was no white Christmas for Katy Perry.

The newly blonde "Teenage Dream" singer, 27, soaked up some tropical sun on Sunday, flaunting her body in an itty-bitty bikini while frolicking through the ocean in Hawaii.

The pop star was vacationing on Kauai in a private rented luxury villa.

As for the two, an onlooker tells us, "Katy and Russell looked very happy when they stepped off their private plane in Kauai before Christmas weekend."

During her time at the beach, Perry was joined by BFF Markus Molinari, among other friends. (Russell was not pictured in the photos at the beach.) And she appeared to enjoy the water, while also taking time to relax on the sand.

Saxophonist and bandleader was a leading light of free jazz in the ’60s and ’70s

 200508_133_span3

Sam Rivers, the multi-instrumentalist and bandleader who helped to define free jazz but whose compositions also embraced form and melody, died Dec. 26 in Orlando, Fla. He was 88. The cause of death, as reported by the Orlando Sentinel, was pneumonia.

Born in Oklahoma in 1923, Rivers, like so many other future jazz musicians, was raised on the music of the church, and his father was a gospel singer with the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Rivers’ mother taught music, and Rivers learned to play violin and piano as a child. The family lived in Chicago and Little Rock, but in 1947, Rivers, who ultimately played tenor and soprano saxophones (his primary instruments), flute, bass clarinet, piano and harmonica, moved to Boston, where he studied at the Boston Conservatory of Music and Boston University.

Early in his career, in the 1950s, Rivers played in trumpeter Herb Pomeroy’s band, alongside Quincy Jones and Jaki Byard. Rivers began to lead his own bands in the late ’50s, one of which included the teenaged drummer Tony Williams. Although he came up on bebop, Rivers took to jazz's burgeoning avant-garde, aligning himself with the Jazz Composers’ Guild, along with such leading free-jazz figures as Cecil Taylor and Archie Shepp.

Rivers joined Miles Davis’ quintet briefly in 1964, appearing on his Miles in Tokyo album, but was replaced by Wayne Shorter when Davis felt Rivers’ playing was too free. That same year, Rivers released his highly regarded first album as a leader, Fuschia Swing Song, on Blue Note. (It includes one of Rivers' best and most enduring compositions, "Beatrice.") During the ’60s, Rivers also kept busy as a sideman, playing on recordings (most on Blue Note) by Andrew Hill, Cecil Taylor, Bobby Hutcherson, Larry Young and Williams. Rivers ultimately recorded four albums for Blue Note as a leader, which featured such top players as Byard, Young, Hill, Freddie Hubbard and Herbie Hancock. Rivers’ '60s recordings, especially his debut and its follow-up, Contours, are essential listening: They showcase his remarkable ability to balance "inside" elements (the blues and hard bop) with the "outside" qualities (harmonic tension, dissonance) of the avant-garde.

Rivers signed with Impulse! Records in the ’70s, recording such highly regarded albums as Streams and Crystals. Rivers also made notable contributions to Dave Holland’s 1973 release Conference of the Birds, on ECM, which also included avant-garde pioneer Anthony Braxton. The drummer from that session, Barry Altschul, was, with Holland, part of a celebrated trio Rivers led in the '70s. In late 1975, Holland and Rivers recorded a series of duet sessions, released on two albums on the Improvising Artists label. In 1979, Holland was part of the quartet that recorded Rivers’ ECM album Contrasts. During that same decade, Rivers and his then-wife Beatrice ran a loft performance space (first in Harlem and then in lower Manhattan) called Studio Rivbea; Rivers also led a big band he called the Rivbea Orchestra.

Rivers continued to record and perform prolifically for the rest of his life, both as leader and sideman. In the late ’80s the diverse player worked for some time with Dizzy Gillespie’s United Nation Big Band. In 1999 and 2000 Rivers released a pair of albums on RCA with the Rivbea All-Star Orchestra and in 2001, at age 77, he contributed saxophone to pianist Jason Moran’s Blue Note album Black Stars.

In his final two decades Rivers settled in Orlando, where he continued to perform with his big band and a trio featuring bassist Doug Mathews. He continued to compose elaborate, ambitious work and record it with a new version of the Rivbea Orchestra (some of Rivers' musicians were students and teachers at local colleges, as well as players who made their livings performing at Disney World and other theme parks). Rivers composed more than 300 works during his career. This year Mosaic Select released Trilogy, a box set of recordings made by the Orlando group.

Just last year Rivers commented on his longevity. “I don’t know how to explain it, but at 87, I have greater musical powers than I did when I was 21,” he said in the liner notes for the Mosaic package. “These days all I do is practice and write. That’s as close to heaven as I can get, as a non-believer. There’s no such thing as retirement, anyway. Retirement? What is that? Who retires?”

Sinead O'Connor splits with husband

 Sinead Oconnor

Sinead O'Connor has split with her husband Barry Herridge after 16 days of marriage.
Sinead O'Connor has split from her husband after 16 days of marriage.

The 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer - who has been wed three times previously - claims people in her partner Barry Herridge's life stopped the couple, who married at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, from being able to settle into their lives with each other but says they have parted "amicably".
Writing on her official website, she said: "From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me. These were people who had never met me but had formed opinions of me based on what they read about 'Sinead 'O'Connor' in the media etc.

"He is a wonderful man. I love him very much. I'm sorry I'm not a more regular woman. I truly believe though it is painful to admit, we made a mistake rushing into getting married, for altruistic reasons, and weren't aware or prepared for the consequences on my husband's life and the lives of those close to him.
"We part amicably. I wish him to be free and happy and loved and supported and for him to have privacy as that is utmost important for his job and for the children he treats as a therapist so I plead on theirs and his behalf for media to please leave him and his family alone. I really beg this."
However, the Irish star admits she is happy with the decision and will continue to be herself and learn from the situation.

She added: "I am in a very good and happy and strong place in life so I am doing fine. The marriage was 16 days. We lived together for 7 days only. Until Xmas eve. And we haven't been awful to each other. So while I feel sad for my husband, and sad to be the cause of sorrow to yet another poor man, I'm also happy that I know we weren't horrible to each other and he is better off free. And that I can be me. (sic)"

‘Mission: Impossible’ Tops Box Office Takings

The fourth instalment of the Mission: Impossible series has taken the top spot at the US box office over the long Christmas weekend, making it the most popular movie choice of the holiday season.
The action-packed sequel, titled Ghost Protocol and starring Tom Cruise, opened on 14 December and has topped box office ratings around the world.

It made $46.2 million (£29.5 million) and pushed the Sherlock Holmes sequel into second place.
Paramount Pictures said that Ghost Protocol's foreign gross takings stand at $140 million. The film is expected to rake in $201 million in total box office earnings by the end of the year.

Warner Bros' flick Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows took second spot and collected $31.8 million over the long weekend, bringing its total to $90.6 million.
It was followed by family comedy Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked with a total of $20 million in takings.

The US version of the adult thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, starring Daniel Craig, entered the box office closely behind and took fourth spot at $19.4 million.

Steven Spielberg's motion capture version of Tintin, which has become a box office smash across the globe, came in at number five and made a modest $16.1 million on its Christmas opening in North America.
There is expected to be strong demand for the film over the next few days as the school holidays continue and people seek wholesome family entertainment.

It remains to be seen whether total box office earnings will surpass last year's total of almost $10.6 billion in ticket sales.

The top 12 movies over the 2011 Christmas weekend generated $114 million at the box office, a 15 percent drop on 2010, according to Hollywood.com.

Best Film Releases of 2012

It’s been a year of sequels and prequels and no doubt, 2012 will be full of them too.

We at Purple Revolver take a look at some of the most exciting film releases we can look forward to for 2012.

The Avengers (May 4th)
Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and The Hulk have all had their solo glory over the years and 2012 is the year they all come together for the first time on film.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon has taken the directorial reigns, which no doubt means there will be no special effect expense spared.

Starring Robert Downey Jr, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson, comic-con regulars and film buffs will definitely be excited for this one.

Men in Black 3 (May 25th)
More than a decade since the last Men in Black adventure, Will Smith once again throws on that infamous suit.

When the world is threatened by an evil alien, Agent Jay travels back in time to 1969, where he teams up with the younger Agent Kay to stop an evil villain named Boris (Jemaine Clement) from destroying the world in the future.

However cynical you are about sequels, you definitely won’t want to miss out on this one.

The Amazing Spider Man (July 3rd)
British actor Andrew Garfield is the latest guy to take on Spidey. Going back to High School, Peter Parker once again struggles with his hormones, his spandex and err, his spidey senses.

Although it’s a little early for a prequel, Andrew has already been praised for his portrayal of the infamous hero and with Emma Stone playing the leading lady, these two will cement themselves as some of the best young actors of the year.

The Dark Knight Rises (July 20th)
Christopher Nolan’s adaptations of billionaire Bruce Wayne have won fans and critics over. The Dark Knight Rises takes place eight years after The Dark Knight, and Batman faces new challenges in the form of brutal Bane and Catwoman.

Fans of the original comic are excited to see Bane as the baddy and if Tom Hardy’s portrayal of Bronson is anything to go by, he’s going to make an awesome villain!

Total Recall (August 3rd)
1990 saw the first attempt at this Philip K. Dick classic and Arnie didn’t disappoint. It’s no wonder then, that movie fans are sceptical of yet another re-make.

Colin Farrell will be playing Douglas Quaid, which is an interesting and somewhat controversial choice. Jessica Biel will be playing Melina and stars Kate Beckingsale and Ethan Hawke also feature.

Unlike the original, the story all takes place on one planet. Only true sci-fi fans will be able to judge whether this will be a hit or a miss.

Expendables 2 (August 17th)
The plot is still firmly under Stallone’s biceps, but if the first film was anything to go by this’ll be an awesome treat of true 90’s style action.

The original cast of the first film all make an appearance including Arnie, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis. Expect explosions, over the top plots and plenty of brilliant one-liners.

Dredd (September 21st)
Sylvestor Stallone first took on the role back in 1995 and the film itself was kind of so bad, that it was kind of good. Stallone was the perfect choice for Street judge, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot.

This time, Karl Urban takes on the character, with Pete Travis directing. They’ve got some big boots to fill but not too much to improve on!

The Hobbit (December 4th)
J.R.R. Tolkien’s infamous story of how Bilbo Baggins came to find that ring has been screaming out at Hollywood ever since the success of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

It comes as no surprise then that Peter Jackson has taken the reigns once again to showcase this magical story.

British actor Martin Freeman is Bilbo, which has made many movie critics raise an eyebrow or two. This will be the first of two films for the story, so be sure to cement your seat in the front row!

Lady GaGa gives her fans a special Christmas treat

LADY GaGa, you can't say she's not good to us.
Because this Christmas Lady G (the 'G' stands for 'generous', by the way) gave fans an extra reason to be cheerful.

Celebrating another extraordinary year Lady GaGa uploaded a new track on her YouTube channel on Christmas eve.

The festively-named Stuck On F**kin' You was recorded on tour, as the eccentric pop star explained.

"So to give you a little background to the creation of this song, I wrote it in Minnesota after the Monster Ball on the tour bus. We recorded it in one shot. Fernando on guitar, Paul on Drum Machine. I wrote, sang it, and freestyled the last minute + a half of the song."

The track, as you may have guessed from the title, contains some slightly fruity language. So maybe give it a miss if you're of a delicate disposition.

Hugh Hefner & Crystal Harris in a Custody Battle over Their Puppy

Hugh Hefner & Crystal Harris in a Custody Battle over Their Puppy | Crystal Harris, Hugh Hefner

Shortly after Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris ended their engagement in June, the Playboy mogul said Harris let him keep Charlie, their shared Cavalier King Charles spaniel.

But now, Hefner, 85, says he and his former fiancée, 25, are still going back and forth about who gets permanent ownership of the pooch.

"We both love the puppy," Hefner told PEOPLE on Thursday at the Playboy Mansion in L.A. "I told her if she wants to keep the ring and the Bentley, then maybe I can keep the puppy. I [hope] we will work it out." Hefner, who still insists he "missed a bullet" by not tying the knot with Harris – who was linked to Dr. Phil's son right after the split – points out, "The puppy's valuable, but not $100,000 worth."

Although he is still in talks with Harris about their canine companion, Hefner has moved on in his personal life with Anna Sophia Berglund and Shera Bechard, the women he calls his "two very special ladies."

On her new interview special, Mariah Carey: On The Record with Fuse, airing TONIGHT (December 25) at 8pm on Fuse, Mariah called her son Moroccan “the life of the party.”

“It’s so funny … there’s a picture of the two of us together and we look identical and we have the identical smile,” Mariah said about her baby boy (via People). “I recognize the joy that’s in him. There’s something that was always free about me, it just got stifled as things grew in my career.”

“We have Miss Monroe Cannon – that’s what I call her, Miss Monroe,” she said about her baby girl. “She’s very dainty and she holds her own bottle. She’s Miss Independent, definitely Miss Independent.”

Kris Marshall axed as BT ads family breaks up

Kris Marshall's Adam has to say goodbye to Jane (PA)

Marshall and on-screen partner Esther Hall are one of the best-known couples on television after starring as Adam and Jane in 40 ads over the past seven years.

Viewers have seen them cope with situations including moving house, getting pregnant and preparing for a wedding, but BT's marketing team have decided it is time for a different approach.
The company intends to move on from its family-themed ads, although former Spooks and Waking The Dead star Hall will still appear occasionally.

However, Marshall's character has been written out of the ad campaign completely and will make his final appearance next month.

BT denied the ex-My Family star's departure had anything to do with him being banned from driving for six months after he was found asleep in his parked car while twice the drink-drive limit.

A spokeswoman told the Guardian: 'We decided to bring the campaign to a natural close with the wedding.
'Our new campaign is an evolution of the old campaign and the focus will no longer be within a family setting.'
BT's family adverts have proved popular with viewers and when the public were given the chance to decide on the outcome of a pregnancy storyline, more than 1.6million votes were cast via Facebook.

Top 5 Reality TV Moments Of 2011

Kelly Rowland
We've seen it all this year, and sometimes we've seen too much. That's what reality TV does to you. When we weren't horrified by the lengths people will go to for fame, or the way talent shows bring out the crazy in people, we were enjoying these top five reality TV moments in 2011. After all, it's just meant to be a bit of fun, isn't it?

1. The Tortoiseshell Stomach

Celebrity Big Brother returned in August and, with it, came a motley bunch of 'famous' people doing their very best to make the headlines. Including wacky twins Jedward, who shaved each others' faces, TOWIE star Amy Childs, who pranced around in a bikini, former Baywatch babe Pamela Bach, who talked about her ex-hubby the Hoff, reality TV staple Kerry Katona, who tried to nab herself toyboy Lucien Laviscount, and Sally Bercow, the wife of the Speaker of the House of Commons, who generally embarrassed parliament by being there.

There were plenty of memorable moments from the show, which found its new home on Channel 5 - Childs offering Bercow a vajazzle was just one of them. But the best moment of all, the defining moment of our Celebrity Big Brother experience '11 was when Darryn Lyons, aka Mr Paparazzi, the man who made a fortune from taking pictures of celebs' fake body parts, revealed his own tortoiseshell stomach.

Washboard it wasn't. In preparation for his entry to the microscopic exposure of the Big Brother house, the 46-year-old showbiz paparazzo had undertaken a surgical procedure known as 'contouring' to achieve his rippling abdomen, however, we're assured no tortoises were harmed in this production.

2. Kelly Rowland Confuses The Nation
"Who knew you were doing uptempo owwww", "gawd dog woman, you put it down!" and "happy frickin xmas, I love your jumpers" - just some of the gems that came out of Kelly Rowland's beautiful mouth during the X Factor. The Destiny's Child singer took to her judging role like only Beyonce's best mate could, bringing with her the best feedback the talent contest's hopefuls could have hoped for. Who needs smarmy Simon dissing your vocals when you can have Kelly commenting on your face, jumper or butts y'all?

3. Give Me A Scarf!!!
It was inevitable - put an eighties Hollywood TV star in a jungle with a glamour model who doesn't know where Chile is and Mark Wright from TOWIE and she's going to flip out about something.
Stefanie Powers became a highlight of I'm A Celebrity 2011 when she snapped over sun cream and scarfs. With a genuine rage in her eyes, the Hart To Hart star said: "People will call up the show and say there is a dead person on the programme, it has white zinc oxide in the cream and it makes me look like a cadaver, I need one with a tint, it looks like I'm dead. I really need to have some help here, the more I wipe it, the whiter it gets."
She then stormed into the Bush Telegraph and demanded a scarf, claiming: "I'd like a scarf, every time I put something out to dry it disappears, I need a scarf!... This is a f***ing TV show! Let's just get this straight! Jesus Christ! We smell, we're tired, we're cranky and we're bored." Yes Stephanie, we could tell.

4. Entertainment From The Astrologer
Who'd have thought Russell Grant would become the highlight of Strictly 2011? Not only did the astrologer get to return to his favoured spot in the limelight, claiming: "I'm back doing what I really love to do," but viewers were also given the most gloriously camp contestant the ballroom's ever seen. Whether cuddling a teddy bear, riding a bucking bronco, swishing in white satin after emerging from a giant pink seashell, or being shot out of a glitter cannon, Grant made the series with his darling behaviour.

5. TOWIE's Innocent Side
Once upon a time, Mother Teresa comforted sick men. In Essex they have bubbly Gemma Collins. Arriving with a wicker basket of goodies, Gemma came to the rescue of Greek twin Dino, who was laid up unwell on the sofa - with his top off of course, because that's what men do when they're sick, right? Gemma unpacked her basket and proved that she knows what a Greek man needs - forget Lemsip, they like humus, tzatziki and pitta bread. The time Gemma turned nurse was one of The Only Way Is Essex's more innocent moments, slotted nicely in between the plastic surgery chats, scheming nightclub chats and that massive slanging match between Lauren Goodger and Sam Faiers.

Christmas Eve in Bethlehem

Christmas Eve in Bethlehem

Seasonal celebrations are in full swing in the traditional birthplace of Jesus as Bethlehem’s Mayor hails a Christmas of hope for the Palestinian people.

Thousands have flocked to the biblical town which, after years of violence, has been enjoying relative calm. Security is still tight but there is optimism in the air. After UNESCO admission, local leaders are hoping for full Palestinian membership of the United Nations.

“We are celebrating this Christmas, hoping that in the near future we will get our right to self-determination, our right to establish our own democratic, secular, Palestinian state on Palestinian land,” said Bethlehem’s Mayor Victor Batarseh.

From Midnight Mass at the Church of the Nativity, to less spiritual activities like actors dressing up as Santa Claus, Bethlehem looks to be giving visitors a very happy Christmas.

How I found My Christmas Spirit This Year

It is Friday, December 23rd, and I have been trying desperately to get into the Christmas spirit. It was a particularly funky calendar year, so I've gone deep into my bag of sensory memory tricks, inundating myself with the sights sounds and smells of the holidays. I've been burning every Yankee Candle Christmas scent, filled the house with cookies and cakes, and downed enough egg nog to bring on jaundice. I've even watched hours of specials and commercials from the 70s and 80s in an attempt to recapture the most innocent magical kind of Christmas.

(Note to reader: What did T.J. NOT do? Hold onto that thought).

The reason for the funky year ranged from bad to spectacular.

Financially this has been an awful year, with a slight move to the black the past few months. Personally, I have been blessed with the greatest of gifts as my wife gave birth to our second perfect healthy daughter, and both are doing great. There was a whole lot in between. Up-down-up-down.

This morning, just as I was getting my brain and my heart into the Holly Jolly mode...just as my Grinchy Scroogey mood was lightening up to a more festive jingle jangle...just as I was laying out my gay apparel, my ATM was declined. 6:15 a.m. KABOOM. Lights out. Mr. Grinch please report to your cave! Mr. Grinch...I must have looked like I saw the Winter Warlock.

In one fell swoop fear, anger, depression and all the other demons were front and center. It was early morning and I couldn't get any answers from my bank. All I knew was that it's two days to Christmas, and I am negative cash-broke.

Within a few hours, I got to the bottom of things...I didn't find tons of cash, but things were resolved. Regardless of this, my new found Christmas spirit was gone and I was numb, down for the count.

Then I received an email.

I have a dear buddy whom I grew up with, we'll call him Rob. A couple years ago Rob was diagnosed with late stage colon cancer. He has three gorgeous children and a heroic beautiful wife. Rob is walking around with every single thing I fear, and about 10 other things I haven't had time to be afraid of yet. Rob is fighting. He is smacking this disease around like that blow-up Bozo punching thing we all had many Christmases ago.

My ATM card was declined, and I went into a depression in 45 seconds flat. Rob is entering year 3 in a Stage Four fight, and this is the original piece he wrote:

"A tree stands on a hill. The winter comes and a heavy snow falls weighing down its branches and the tree sometimes struggles to stand.

Its boughs bend downward and are near breaking. People see this and climb the hill to help out. They have busy lives but they go out of their way to offer help. They shake the snow from the branches to ease the weight and provide some relief. But it snows again and... again and the burden is there every day. The tree is constantly under strain but people continue to come and help out.

The tree realizes something. The snow which is a burden to the tree also shows all the footprints of the people who come to help. Every day, the tree sees the footprints, big and small, of those who come to offer relief. The tree still has a burden but it chooses to focus on the footprints because they are what truly matter.

I just wanted to say thank you to all the footprints I am blessed to see every day; you warm my heart with your generosity and fill my soul with hope and joy. Big and small, I see nothing but footprints everywhere I look and I am very thankful. Have a safe and very Merry Christmas everyone!"

Shame on me. How dare I be so shallow. Where's my prayer? (How many guessed that?) Where's my faith? Where are my eyes? What the HECK was I THINKING?

This evening I'm going to get into the Christmas Spirit the proper way.

When I get home I'm going to write a grateful list. I'm going fill my nose with the newborn scent off my baby's forehead. I'm going to bake cookies with my 3-year-old. I'm going to read the story of the Nativity in The Book of Luke. I'm going to hug and kiss my wife and thank her for all of the above.

I'm going to pray for the whole world, no exceptions...especially my buddy Rob and that amazing family of his. Please join me in those prayers.

Merry Christmas.

Michael Buble - Buble Jet Sets Over Christmas

Michael Buble

Singer Michael Buble is a jet setter over the festive season - he spends Christmas in his native Canada and flies out to Argentina to celebrate the New Year with his wife Luisana Lopilato's family.

The couple, which began dating in 2009, wed in March (11) and Buble and his model wife ensure they spend quality time with both sets of relatives over the holidays.

So Lopilato's parents and siblings travel from their home in South America to Vancouver to experience the traditional winter wonderland experience, while Buble likes to soak up the sun for New Year's Eve (31Dec).

He tells People magazine, "Lu and her family will come to Vancouver and stay with me and my family. Last year was amazing. I took them up to the mountains and they saw snow for the first time!"

Lopilato adds, "We really like to go there (Vancouver) because in Argentina it's summer, and Mike's family makes it really special."

But Buble won't need to worry about cooking for so many people - he calls in a little outside help to cater for the whole clan.

He says, "Some stay over and some nearby. We get caterers in to do the food. That way, there's no worry about washing up as they clean up after themselves. We eat and drink too much, I get tambourines and shakers and we have a big singalong."

Beyonce Knowles - Beyonce Outlaws Tv At Christmas

Mum-to-be Beyonce is laying down the law this Christmas (11) by forbidding family members from turning on the Tv.

The singer, who is expecting her first child with rapper husband Jay Z, wants to enjoy quality time with her relatives - without any interruptions.

She tells Britain's New! magazine, "I will be with family. Jay Z and I are both so busy throughout the year that Christmas is just a time to relax with the family and count the many blessings in your life. Christmas Day is a no-Tv zone. We just like to sit and talk together as a family."

Kate Middleton's FIVE Christmas Day outfit changes: How to get the look for less!

WE intend to wear our onesies for most of the festive period.
But Kate Middleton won't have the luxury of wearing what she likes on Christmas Day, after it was revealed that she'll be expected to change outfits FIVE times during the special day.

The Duchess of Cambridge will be spending her first festive period as Prince William's wife with the Royal Family at the Sandringham Estate, but it seems it won't be a relaxed affair with the in-laws.

Instead she'll have had to pre-plan her different outfits - along with accessories and make-up - all ready to impress on December, 25.

So as the Duchess gets ready for her Christmas Day fashion catwalk, we thought we'd give her a few ideas of how she can steal the show in the Royal household.

'And I said YES!' Holly Valance to wed billionaire boyfriend Nick Candy

Australian singer/actress Holly Valance is ecstatic after her billionaire boyfriend Nick Candy asked her to marry him.

The property tycoon, 38, got down on one knee on a beach in the Maldives with the words 'Will you marry me' written in fire.

He had whisked her away to the Indian ocean island on Wednesday for a Christmas break, following the finale of Strictly Come Dancing last weekend.

Loved up: Holly Valance and Nick Candy, pictured at the Strictly Come Dancing party last Friday, are engaged

Among those to congratulate the couple was Valance's presenter friend Lisa Snowdon, who tweeted: 'Congratulations!'

Rather tellingly, in an interview published just days ago, Candy was rather coy when it came to marriage.

Romantic: The billionaire got down on one knee on the beach on the couple's Christmas holiday

When asked about marrying Valance, he told Today Online: 'I always get asked that. No comment.'

The couple started dating in late 2009 after meeting at a mutual friend's dinner party.
Recalling their meeting in an interview last year, she said: 'I didn’t know anything about him. I just thought "Cor, if I didn’t fancy you so much, we’d be the best of friends. Instead, I just want to make out with you all the time."'
They soon moved in together last year and have become regulars on the London society scene.

During Valance's recent appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, supportive Candy was often seen on screen cheering her on from the audience.
Last year, Valance admitted being in love with a billionaire sometimes irked her friends.
She said: 'I've got such a disgusting, wide, smug grin on my face all the time that my friends just want to slap me. I’ve never been so happy...
'I am a spoilt brat. My friends and my sister say: "I hate you!" when I show them what he’s bought me.'

The couple's Christmas holiday comes after they spent last weekend in Blackpool for the Strictly Come Dancing final.

However, while the majority of the cast and crew went up to Blackpool in a coach, Candy took Valance and her fellow competitor Nancy Dell'Olio up north in his private jet.

Dancing queen: Valance and Artem Chigvintsev ended up in fourth place in this year's Strictly Come Dancing

Melbourne-raised Valance leaped to fame in 1999 when she was cast as Felicity 'Flick' Scully in Australian soap Neighbours.

In 2002, she quit the Aussie soap to move to London, where she signed a record deal with London Records.
She released four singles over a 12 month period and scored a number one hit with her debut Kiss Kiss, a cover of a Turkish pop song.

After poor sales of her second album State of Mind, Holly parted ways with London Records and returned to acting, taking roles in DOA: Dead or Alive, National Lampoon's Pledge This! and Miss Marple.

Prior to dating Candy, she also romanced Hawaii 5-0 actor Alex O'Loughlin and Peter Veveris.
Family ties: Holly and Nick with his brother Christian and his wife Emily at the opening of One Hyde Park earlier this year
Meanwhile, Mr Candy – along with his brother Christian and their firm Candy & Candy – has become one of Britain’s most successful luxury property developers.

Astonishingly, he and Christian turned a £6,000 loan from their grandmother in 1995 into a £9billion global property portfolio.
Their most famous development is the One Hyde Park: The Residences which link to the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Knightsbridge, South West London. This development boasts the country’s most expensive apartment, the penthouse which sold for £136million earlier this year.

In September, Mr Candy – who has opulent homes in London and Monaco as well as a private plane and a £50million super-yacht - was named entrepreneur of the year by GQ magazine.

'X Factor' USA finale accident injures three stagehands

The judges arrive for The X Factor USA finale

Three X Factor USA stagehands were reportedly rushed to hospital when they were injured during Thursday night's season finale.

The accident occurred when a stair riser came apart and struck the workers while 50 Cent was in the midst of his performance, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Two of the stagehands were hit in the head, while another was struck on the elbow.

One of the injured men was heard saying he was "fine" following the incident, but joked that he couldn't believe it occurred "on the f**king last night of the show".All three injured stagehands were apparently taken to nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre to be checked by doctors.

Last night's finale saw Melanie Amaro triumph over Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene to win The X Factor's $5m grand prize.

Amaro was overcome with emotion following her win, telling X Factor host Steve Jones and mentor Simon Cowell: "God is good! I'm so happy... This is something I have wanted all my life!"

Lindsay Lohan Leaked Playboy Breaking Records

Lindsay Lohan's nude Playboy issue is selling like hotcakes and generating record breaking sales, according to reports.

The 25-year old star's nude spread in the men's magazine has been in high demand since it hit newsstands across the globe last Friday.
The issue, which generated a tremendous buzz after the cover was recently leaked online, has apparently being flying off the shelves as consumer flock to see the child star in her birthday suit for themselves.

Playboy initially teased consumers by releasing a picture from the inside spread of the magazine shortly after the leak but were then forced to bring the release date of the January/February issue forward altogether after the global interest intensified.

Although the publication is yet to release official figures, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner took to Twitter earlier this week to share with fans the success of the issue by tweeting: "The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records."

But according to TMZ, the issue is selling so well that vendors across the country are having to order additional copies to keep up with demand.

Sources close to the publication also revealed that the issue has helped increase subscription sales to the online service iPlayboy.com substantially.

Miss Lohan is also doing her part and spearheading the promotion campaign of the issue by using her Twitter page to urge fans to buy the magazine.

She tweeted:"Playboy on stands now! I was so nervous! I hope people like it :) and pick up a copy!!! * ....xoxo."

Rihanna yawns on stage during London concert

Rihanna - Love or Hate? Rihanna's new blonde 'do - Marie Claire - Marie Claire UK

Rihanna has been touring around the world since June and it looks as though her hectic schedule is finally beginning to take it's toll.

The star played yet another show at London's O2 arena last night but was apparently caught yawning on stage.

The 23-year-old has done over 100 dates as part of her Loud world tour and has often been seen coming out of clubs and bars in the early hours of the morning, so it's no surprise that she could do with forty winks.

SEE RIHANNA'S SIZZLING HOLIDAY SNAPS

In November, Rihanna had to cancel a show in Malmo, Sweden due to being hospitalized with the flu and many thought that might be the wake up call she needed to slow down her hectic lifestyle.

This week footage was released of the singer behind the scenes on the shoot for her You Da One video in Hackney, London, where she admits that she's so exhausted she won't 'remember this tomorrow.'

It seems like the Christmas break can't come early enough for Ri-Ri.

Has Rihanna been over doing it? Let us know what you think in the comment box below...

Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose hints he may reunite with former members at Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose hints he may reunite with former members at Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has hinted he may team up with members of the original line-up for their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

The singer, who is the only original member in the current outfit, also said he was reluctant to reform the old line-up because of people making money at their expense.

He told the LA Times
"I've got mixed emotions about what the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame actually really is, but at the same time, there's a lot of people the fans that it just means something to them, and they're happy. So I don't want to take that away from them"

He added: "All these managers, they all believe in one thing: sell a reunion tour and get their commission. It's just a phone call. It's a half a day's work, or however long they want to keep the bidding war going. They get their commission and they don't care if it falls on its face."

He also said if the band were to reunite, he wouldn't have former drummer Steven Adler, who recently said he was doubtful the original line-up would reform, and rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin on board. Surprisingly though he said he would consider joining forces with Slash despite their differences and bassist Duff McKagan, who recently supported the band on tour.

"The only thing that would make it would be Duff and Slash, really," he explained.

"It's nothing against Izzy and it's nothing against Steven, or anything like that. Steven may want it, but these guys I’m working with right now, they work really hard and it’s hard work. I've toured with the other guys and I’ve also seen what they’ve done since, and I just know the difficulties. So it’s not really even a full reunion."

He also explained that he has never got on with Slash ever since the band started because of a power struggle. "It was really a fight with me and Slash," he added..

"Izzy was doing the same thing, but the fight with me and Slash started the day I met him. He came in, popped my tape out and put his in and wanted me in his band. And I didn't want to join his band. We've had that war since Day 1."

David Beckham - David Beckham Furious After Family Christmas Card Leaks

David Beckham , Romeo Beckham
David Beckham and his wife Victoria are reportedly furious after a Christmas card they'd originally sent to a few select friends and journalists leaked online. The picture reportedly shows the Beckham kids all topless, and was first made aware to the public after Vogue Magazine senior fashion news editor Jane Keltner De Valle posted it on Twitter alongside the caption "Cutest thing about victoriabeckham's xmas card? Photo cred on back that reads 'Picture by Daddy." Others who picked up the photo included Australian gossip site Popsugar while the editor of Glamour, Jo Elvin also posted the photo.

It became apparent that the snap wasn't for public consumption however, reports the UK's Daily Mail, when Elvin subsequently took it down from her Twitter account and tweeted "I should point out, the Christmas card from the Beckhams is Not for publication. It was private. My bad. Sorry, got swept up in adorableness."
In other bad news for the Beckhams, David's expected move to football team Paris Saint-Germain isn't being greeted wholeheartedly by France, with one of the country's Presidential candidates next year Eva Joly thundering, "It's not a game, it's business. At his age and with the state of his knees, he's going to be selling T-shirts." The footballer has largely been at the pinnacle of the sport following his rise into the Manchester United first team and then spending time at Spanish giants Real Madrid; however he turns 37 next year and, having spent four years with Los Angeles Galaxy, is viewed by many to be long past his best.

Simon Cowell 'wants Cat Deeley to replace Steve Jones on X Factor USA'

Cat Deeley on the red carpet at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards
Simon Cowell reportedly wants Cat Deeley to replace Steve Jones as the host of X Factor USA.

Deeley, who presents Fox dance series So You Think You Can Dance, is being lined up as a replacement for the Welsh TV personality, reports the Daily Star.

The newspaper claims that Deeley may be ready "for a change" of shows and could be persuaded to leave the Nigel Lythgoe-helmed dance show to work with Simon Cowell.

Jones, who has been savaged by critics throughout the first series of the singing talent show, has claimed that he would love to return for a second series.

His rep has also rubbished stories in British tabloids, which have claimed that Jones has already effectively been axed from the show and that producers are already looking for a new presenter.

"There have been absolutely no conversations about Steve Jones leaving The X Factor," said his spokesperson. "Steve is very happy with the outcome of this season and he looks forward to being back and discovering more talent in the New Year."

Jennifer Lopez in Vegas with lover

 Jennifer-Lopez-in-Vegas-with-lover

Jennifer Lopez appears to be smitten with her new lover and spent a romantic night in Las Vegas with him on Monday.

The 42-year-old performer and her boyfriend Casper Smart were seen at pan-Asian restaurant Social House inside Vegas' City Center, where they were joined by Jennifer's American Idol colleagues Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest.

The gang were in Sin City to tape an episode for the upcoming season of the talent show and grabbed a bite together in the evening.

But it was the mother-of-two and her 24-year-old boyfriend who apparently put on a show.

They all arrived to the restaurant around 8pm and ordered pizza, Kobe hanger steak and yellowtail as well as Caymus cabernet wine.

An eyewitness told E! Online that Jennifer and her backing dancer beau were cuddled up together throughout the meal and couldn't resist exchanging a few kisses during the 90 minute dinner.

After everyone had finished their entrées, Casper apparently surprised Jennifer by ordering the dark chocolate lava cake for her for dessert.

The Jenny From The Block singer was apparently not able to finish the decadent treat and the other guys on the table piled in to try it.

Just the day before the couple were seen out together in Calabasas, California, where they went shopping.
