Beyonce and Jay-Z have become parents to their first baby.
The singer, 30, gave birth to a little girl, called Blue Ivy, by caesarian section on Saturday night in a private wing of the Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.
Initially there was confusion about the baby's name, with some media outlets reporting that Beyonce and Jay-Z had called their new arrival Ivy Blue, but it was later confirmed as Blue Ivy.
As is fitting for one of the biggest celebrity births in years, Beyonce's baby was welcomed with by a whole host of stars via Twitter. Gwyneth Paltrow, and close friend of the couple, wrote: 'Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.' Before clearing up the baby's name in a second tweet: 'It's Blue Ivy Carter!'
Beyonce's sister, Solange Knowles, tweeted: 'The most beautiful girl in the world'
And pop star Rihanna joined in by writing: 'Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.' (sic)
According to reports, Beyonce checked into the hospital - in which Jay-Z had apparently spent $1.3million (£800,000) on renting out an entire floor to give his wife privacy - on Manhattan's Upper East Side late Friday under the name Ingrid Jackson.
On Saturday night bags of food and bottles of red wine were seen being delivered to the hospital, probably to celebrate the birth of one of the luckiest babies on the planet.
Congratulations from everyone at Marie Claire!
