ITV defends Eamonn Holmes' sex addict prostitution question

ITV has defended This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes after he asked a sex addict why she didn't become a prostitute.

Eamonn Holmes asks sex addict prostitute question
Holmes, who was on the This Morning couch with co-host Holly Willoughby yesterday, was interviewing self-confessed sex addict Crystal Warren, who claims to have slept with over 1000 men.
After a discussion about her sex life and the reasons for her promiscuity, Crystal found herself confronted with a question that many saw as unfair, when Eamonn asked h whether she would consider becoming a prostitute.
'If you need this five or six times a day, have you never thought about making a business of it? Charging for it?' he asked Crystal.

As she began to protest, he continued: 'If you're not particularly selective, what I'm saying is, why wouldn't it be a business to you?'

Remaining unflustered, Crystal responded: 'Then it becomes a business, then I become maybe like a robot.

'This way I am enjoying it, I do it when I want to do it, I get to choose who I sleep with.'

Some viewers took to Twitter to voice their anger that Eamonn had asked Crystal the question, with one writing: 'Why did he think that was appropriate?? She likes sex - doesn't mean she needs to be a w****!'

But ITV has defended the comments made by Holmes, confirming that the broadcaster had received no complaints from viewers of This Morning regarding the interview.

Speaking to The Sun, an ITV spokesperson said: 'Eamonn's question was in the context of a wider balanced and frank interview and we have had no complaints.'

For his part, Holmes has defended the question he asked by retweeting fans who have sent him messages saying he was 'just asking the question everyone was thinking' and adding that his interview was better than the 'usual sugarcoated morning TV chats'.

Yesterday Eamonn wrote to a supportive fan: 'Thanks @DianaNewnham for your hundreds of supportive tweets over my v obvious question today. Just don't expect the press to reflect them.'
